Cathleen Bunt creates spectacular timeless works of art jewelry from her lovely studio/gallery in Kihei, Hawaii. Each piece is handmade by the artist along with her staff of goldsmiths, all trained in her signature finishing process of sandblasting and raising fine gold. Cathleen believes that color should be balanced throughout a piece and carefully selects just the right gems and pearls to achieve the desired effect. Working mostly in 18K gold or platinum, some of her favorite gems to set are tanzanite, pink and green tourmaline, imperial topaz, blue sapphire, pink sapphire, orange sapphire and emerald. Fancy diamonds such as yellow diamonds, green diamonds and pink diamonds are a new addition and can be seen in pieces like the platinum Vine and Tendril suite. Pearls of every variety also continue to be a constant delight. Cathleen loves the rainbow of colors available in Tahitian pearls, the warm beauty of South Sea golden pearls, as well as the many colors of freshwater pearls. White Akoya and white south sea pearls, as well as white diamonds serve as wonderful accents to the colors in her works of jewelry art.
